Pearl Jam side of the PJ/Nirvana rivalry if you could really call it that. I also came of age after Nirvana had blown up so I think I was turned off a little by the constant presence of smells like teen spirit.

As for the dead I think a lot of their huge fans were more into the scene than the music which probably would’ve turned me off had jerry still been alive while I was getting into them. The widespread panic guys of my era definitely turned me off. I will throw on American Beauty on a nice spring day and love it. I couldn’t ever to the I like this show or this era thing.
